New book highlights microorganisms in biorefineries
A dozen of scientific discoveries about the ways of using plant biomass as renewable raw material for producing various products have recently been compiled into a new book published by Springer. Birgit Kamm, scientific director of the research institute Biopos in Germany and member of the Steering Committee of NRP 66, served as editor.
The book describes how plant biomass can be used as renewable feedstock for producing and further processing various products. Particular attention is given to microbial processes both for the digestion of biomass and the synthesis of platform chemicals, biofuels and secondary products.
