Environmentally friendly use of wood
Life-cycle assessment (LCA) based on material flow analyses is part of the standard procedure for manufacturing a wide range of products. The LCA discussion forum is a highly specialised Swiss scientific forum which has great international visibility; its 60th meeting on 4 December will focus on the "Environmental use of wood resources". The topics covered range from the latest life-cycle inventory data for the Swiss and European wood processing chain to new methods of measuring greenhouse gas emissions and life-cycle analysis of different wood products. One of the key topics is the optimal use of wood across the entire wood value chain based on a holistic approach. The LCA discussion forum offers stakeholders from Switzerland and abroad the opportunity to ponder the most environmentally friendly way of using wood. The meeting, which will be just as interesting for businesspeople, associations and politicians as it is for scientists, will end with a panel discussion on the untapped research potential in the areas LCA and wood use.
